Mission

Miles for Smiles Cancer Foundation is dedicated to supporting children with cancer and their families.
We fund cutting-edge treatments and groundbreaking research by donating to children’s hospitals across Canada, while providing in-person engagement and outreach to bring smiles and strength to those who need it most.

Comprehensive Assistance

We provide holistic support to cancer patients, including frequent visits to BC Children's and Ronald McDonald House. Our aim is to alleviate the burden of cancer treatment and promote better overall patient outcomes.

Educating Communities

Through educational campaigns and outreach programs, we work towards raising cancer awareness, promoting early detection, and sharing valuable information to empower individuals in the fight against cancer both locally and nationwide.

Meet Amy! ✨

Interim Manager of Strategic Enrolment Initiatives at TRU, Amy never fails to uplift and empower those around her - creating a ripple effect of positive change.

🫶 Why she joined:
“At one point in my life, I wanted to become an oncologist, but my path ended up leading me in a different direction. Joining this board feels like a full-circle moment — a meaningful way to contribute to a cause that has always mattered deeply to me. I’m excited to bring my skills to the event planning committee and help make a difference in the lives of children and families affected by cancer.”

Yoga — her go-to for balance and mindfulness.

🎨 Fun fact:
Amy loves to learn new things and try different hobbies!

Meet Grace! ✨

Early Childhood Educator and passionate runner, Grace continues to give back to the community in more ways than one!

🫶 Why she joined:
“I’ve received immense support from the running community, and now I want to reciprocate that kindness. Volunteering with this charity feels like a natural way to contribute and make a positive impact.”

🏃‍♀️ Staying active looks like:
Running is Grace’s primary source of motivation, happiness, and exercise. She’s gearing up for her 7th marathon this May and has already completed two ultramarathons, with plans for more this summer!

👟 Fun fact:
Grace’s life revolves around running—it’s more than a hobby; it’s a lifestyle that fuels her both physically and mentally.

Grace exemplifies the values we hold at Miles for Smiles with her unwavering dedication and kind-hearted spirit. We’re so grateful to have her by our side 💛

A second-year Chemical Biology student at TRU with a big heart and love for giving back.

🤝 Why she joined: “The beautiful mission behind Miles for Smiles is what brought me to join the team - where we show up for our community, for each other, and for ourselves, to find strength in our shared experiences. I show up in memory of my loved ones, to learn how to navigate life, heal, and support others to the best of my abilities.”

🥾 Staying active looks like: Getting outside for a hike and exploring the one-of-a-kind landscape around Kamloops - her favorite way to recharge.

🌞 Fun fact: She grew up in Penang, Malaysia!

Vasudha’s compassion and drive are at the heart of what we do - we’re so lucky to have her as part of the journey 💛

Meet Ava! ✨
A student with Capilano University and sales associate at Runner’s Sole, Ava brings energy, compassion, and a love for movement to the Miles for Smiles team.

🤝 Why she joined: “I decided to join because it’s a good cause and can make a genuine impact in many people’s lives.”

💪 Staying active looks like: Hitting the trails for a hike or getting in a solid workout at the gym - Ava’s all about staying strong, inside and out!

🤸‍♀️ Fun fact: She was a competitive gymnast for 7 years!

A chemical biology major at TRU, Anna’s passion for creating change and building community is what makes her such a special part of our crew.

🤝Why she joined:
“I decided to join the Miles for Smiles team because it brings people together with movement while raising awareness for childhood cancer. I had seen events put on in the past by the charity and found them really inspiring, so I couldn’t say no to the opportunity of getting involved.”

🐾Staying active looks like:
Exploring the outdoors with her 11-year old West Highland Terrier, Jack! Full of energy and adventure, Jack is her go-to hiking buddy at Peterson Creek.

📚Fun fact:
She’s a big reader with a special love for science fiction!

Meet Jerin! 🌟

A dedicated TRU science student and a passionate supporter of our mission, Jerin brings both heart and hustle to everything he does.

🎗️Why he joined:
“My maternal grandfather had cancer, and witnessing his struggles left a lasting impact on me. I joined MFSCF to give back and support young warriors and their families through compassion, community, and action. It means a lot to be part of an organization that brings hope and smiles to children who need it most.”

🚴‍♂️Active and inspired:
From gym sessions and cycling to a newfound love for running, Jerin finds energy and balance through movement.

🎨Fun fact:
He’s got a hidden artistic side - Jerin can draw caricatures, a hobby he picked up just for fun that turned into a cool creative outlet!

We’re lucky to have Jerin as part of the team - his drive, kindness, and creativity are a true asset to our growing community 💫

Meet Jenn! 💛
She’s an Office Administrator at HPF Engineering Ltd. and a Program Coordinator with the Kamloops Ambassador Society - and she brings passion, purpose, and heart to everything she does.

🌟Why she joined:
“I’m a passionate advocate for Childhood Cancer Research. Our daughter is a two-time cancer survivor and wouldn’t be here today without the huge strides in childhood cancer diagnosis and treatment.”

🚶‍♀️Staying active looks like:
Peaceful neighborhood walks, kayaking adventures, and soon - diving into the world of pickleball!

🎗️Fun fact:
Jenn’s shaved her head twice for cancer research - including once live on Toronto Breakfast Television!

She’s an academic researcher and professor of microbiology with a big heart and even bigger love for movement and community.

🌱Why she joined:
“To give back where I can and to create a community of care through volunteering.”

💪Active in every way:
From skiing and hiking to barre, SUP boarding, and even target shooting - Ann’s got all bases covered when it comes to staying physically and emotionally well.

🗣️Fun fact:
She speaks THREE different languages!

We are thrilled to announce that Miles for Smiles is now officially a registered not-for-profit corporation in Canada.

What does this mean? It means that every donation you make will directly support children’s hospitals across the country - specifically the oncology departments - helping to provide vital care when it’s needed most.

This milestone not only expands our reach but also streamlines our efforts, ensuring that the funds we raise get to the families and children who need them without delay.
